YAS Waterworld Sculpture Weekend
With the YAS Waterworld Sculpture Weekend, Green Abu Dhabi once again takes on the challenge of creating public art with the children of the city. And as with the Painted Tiles Mural we have once again found a fun and exciting way for children to learn about art, the environment, and act toward a better future for our mangroves. 4 large 5 x 5 foot sculptures will be created by the kids of the city of Abu Dhabi out of recycled trash and then auctioned to the highest bidder during our Celebrity Charity Auction with the Future Center of Abu Dhabi. The sculptures skeletons were initially created in NYC by Chris Oricchio our celebrity artist leading the YAS Waterworld Sculpture Weekend. Now after being shipped here, they are prepped and ready to be worked with. GEMs, a leading education provider in the UAE will break up the 60 participants into 4 teams of 15. And they will battle it out to the end to see who builds the fastest and most exciting sculpture. Once the kids are done building and painting the sculpture they will enjoy themselves a wonderful and wet day at the YAS Waterworld. And once Chris Oricchio is finished completing the sculptures they will be auctioned to raise money for the Future Cetenter of Abu Dhabi and for the Landmark Mangrove Project. Finally all will be able to come and visit them, as they will find a permanent home in the YAS Marina to be enjoyed by our city forever.
Please visit us at the YAS Waterworld Sculpture Weekend during 9 am - 2 pm on the 17'th and 18'th of May 2013 to watch and cheer on your favorite team. Or if you wish to be one of the team competing, contact Suhail Jashanmal directly.
